above the rim

During the exhibition Cons Space 002 in Berlin, we created the animated installation “Above the Rim” out of 1800 liters of dyed water and self-made styrofoam cubes floating above a small basin.  Standing at the heart of the room, the installation is in contrast not only to its surroundings, but it is a contrast in itself. White, clean and graphic cubes set in a patina plated room. Consciously combining the blocks, the unpredictable nature of the infinite flow of paint breaks these geometrical structures. Clean engineering esthetics are contrasted by chaotic and endless streams of liquid. A floating installation that plays tricks on proportions, materiality, shape and color to ultimately exist independently of the spectator. Photos von Just, Georg Schatz und Quintessenz.
