The Stamp Festival is a well-established street festival presenting various art forms, including Urban art. The Getting Up Crew (Daim, Tasek and Heiko Zahlmann) invited Quintessenz to build an installation as part of the program. Having to deal with a so called „non-place“ has provided an interesting starting position. The house bay is formed by two differently angled buildings meeting each other. A given space, which after years of non- and misuse, such as a public urinal, will – at least temporarily – be given a new face. Dyed parts of reinforcing fabric were suspended in the bay, which to the back disolve in a kind of staircase-like shape. The starting point for shape and angle was given by the viewing angle of the architecture, which strongly reminds of a constructed graphical composition. The shape of Alltonal should be adapted in a straight line and inserted into a suitable place with a rounding. The dark, as well as the bright side of the house walls create balance and absorb and reflect the installation in equal proportions.
