The „Knotenpunkt“ is a well-known exhibition series by the “Affenfaust” gallery in Hamburg, Germany. Taking place every year, a cast of both national and international artists is invited. We were given the possibility to both have exhibits in the gallery, but also to recreate our installation “Barolo” outside right in the middle of Hamburg’s “Lattenplatz”. Our installation was supposed to irritate people on this high-frequented square – by changing accustomed appearances, new categories of perception of everyday places are made possible.
Our exhibits in the gallery were high-quality fine art prints of the Barolo Installation, cleaned up as a series of five, without background. Taking away the surrounding landscape and light, but leaving shadows and structure creates yet another, surreal perception of this installation.
