The mural at the Ibug Festival in Crimmitschau shows a processual design. Although the mural is finished, we aimed at keeping the origination visible. Instead of blending and concealing the paint styles and overlays, we specifically emphasized these interim stages. We wanted the viewer to be able to perceive and even relive the chronology of artistic events, to allow a peek behind the scenes. Dispensing figurative elements further increases the room for interpretation and ultimately lead the observer to develop new and inventive thoughts on the actual process behind the mural. To further reflect on this art gallery style approach, we chose a typical canvas format and incorporated classical surface structures into our design, thus transforming mural and street into a gallery itself.
