Layering these sheets results in a visual endlessness: the occuring moiré effects result in irritation on the base of space, color or contrast.
Late 2015 the design-agency Hardy Seiler hosted a multi-day workshop. In an interdisciplinary setting the participants worked on new uses and concepts for laser procedures, screen printing, stone carving and tattooing. In this setting we used laser to cut grids into colored paper sheets and created three exhibits on the theme of contrast. Layering these sheets results in a visual endlessness: the occuring moiré effects result in irritation on the base of space, color or contrast. The human eye cannot differentiate the amount of fine detail, generating sudden shifts between multiple patterns of perception.
