Targeted at juveniles and their peers, the film aims to stir up its audience: the digital age deprives people of appreciating their surroundings.
Offlife is an educational film for Hamburg Sucht e.V. (Hamburg Addiction r.s.) and exemplifies an exaggerated case of juvenile smartphone addiction. Always set as the center of his own frame, the protagonist is shown in a series of situations during his daily routine. Everything around him seems to move at a different pace, while both timing and effects underline his detachment. He only ever leaves his static posture to take a selfie to post it on the internet. Targeted at juveniles and their peers, the film aims to stir up its audience: the digital age deprives people of appreciating their surroundings. Sometimes we are just too caught up to even notice situations that could have enriched our analogue experience of life.
